How Katalyst taught me to never walk away from a challenge: Shashikala Chougule shares her story
“I still remember shivering in front of an audience during Katalyst training sessions. Once I had to speak a few words at a session but I couldn’t due to my lack of confidence and passed the mike to someone else. Thanks to Katalyst, that was the last time I walked away from a challenge.”
GoBarefoot: I come from a small village in Satara district. As I scored well in class 12, I got admission in VJTI College. As the famous proverb says, “cut your coat according to your cloth,” I was skeptical about joining the College as my father would find it difficult to invest in my education. The fee was more than his earning on the farm. Things turned around when a professor convinced me to join and I was introduced to Katalyst.
However, there was always a gap between my friends and me. But there was one person who not only changed my attitude towards others and but also about myself: my mentor. Acting as my elder sister, a trusted friend, and a guide, she not only helped my professionally but also personally.
Katalyst’s mentorship programme provides every student with an opportunity to interact with experienced people from various fields. As a result, I can proudly say that I got placed at Godrej and Boyce, as Graduate Engineer Trainee earning Rs. 3.6 lakhs per annum.
My journey has started…!
