Affording the Unaffordable; Mission Million Books

Education is an essential factor which facilitates and decides the economic and overall development of a country. In India, illiteracy is a matter of concern as according to Census India 2011, the percentage of literacy rate of 7 and above age group is 73. The reasons behind the children not having access to education could be poverty, unaffordable academic books, child labour etc.

Though many not for profit organisations are working for education sector, Alibaba Group, one of the largest internet companies is partnering with Ratna Nidhi Charitable Trust for its social initiative, “Mission Million Books” in order to provide access to quality educational books to students in India. The project was launched in 2016 and aims to distribute 1 million educational books free of Cost to different educational institutions in India.
